RUN for ITP is the brainchild of Chris Tinnesz. Diagnosed with ITP in 2004, Mr. Tinnesz is an amateur athlete and sports enthusiast who, along with the ITP Foundation, has developed a unique plan of action for battling ITP, a rare bleeding disorder. For every mile Chris Runs for ITP, he is raising funds and awareness for the ITP Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to battling Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura through family assistance programs and the funding of medical research. Run for ITP will formally kick off on January 1, 2009.

The large bucket of popcorn I ate last night,
while watching "The Wrestler", had surprisingly little effect
on my 10.01 mile run this am.  Felt pretty good.
More snow is coming.

First Run for RUNFORITP

First run for the RUNFORITP campaign was this morning, Friday, 1/2/09.
I ran 11.05 miles, as recorded by my newly purchased GARMIN Forerunner 305 (GPS-enabled training system). It was a hard run due to holiday diet, lack of exercise, icy conditions and strong head winds.  I ran my usual course, which is from my house in Rowayton to the turn-around gate at the end of Long Neck Road in Darien, and back.  Good start.
